Victoria Eugenia Hospital and Social Technology sign an agreement to apply robotics to intervention in children with Developmental Disorders
Antonio Montero, Managing Director of the Victoria Eugenia Hospital in Seville, Spanish Red Cross and Bernardo Ronquillo, director of the IO social Robot project, have signed a collaboration agreement for the validation of the Robot as a tool for stimulating communication in people with Developmental Disorders and their family environment.
The convention focuses especially on the children in the audience, as the service is provided through the Unit of Child Development and Early childhood Specialist Hospital that will open in the near future and deals with Autism Spectrum disorders (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and specific Language impairment.
Work with the social robot IO will be done by evaluating the different activities implemented between the robot and the child, identifying those that have the greatest impact on their learning. It will also allow us to know the strengths and the detection of areas of improvement from the professional point of view.
With this agreement, both entities offer a way to make accessible to families the use of social robots as a support tool in therapeutic treatment, within a comprehensive approach, encouraging the use of new technologies.
Antonio Montero, Managing director of hospital Victoria Eugenia De La Cruz Roja de Sevilla and Bernardo Ronquillo, author and director of the Project Robot social IO have signed the collaboration agreement at the headquarters of the Hospital Center, being present during the Act Ángeles Prada, Deputy Director of Health Promotion and innovation of the Hospital and Ana Gómez, coordinator of the children’s development and specialized Early Care Unit of the Hospital.
